Henny Penny is Award-Winner for JD Edwards Upgrade

Henny Penny sought an integrated enterprise system and was recognized as ‘Customer Success Story of the Year’ by Oracle for its JD Edwards EnterpriseOne upgrade

The Client

Henny Penny is a privately held, family-owned company that continues 50-years of innovation that began in Eaton, Ohio with the first commercial pressure fryer in 1957. Henny Penny’s vision for their ERP system was modeled after their products – one that is easy to operate, provides greater flexibility and lowers operating costs by:

  • Upgrading to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne version 9.1 to continue as a longtime Oracle JD Edwards customer current on support
  • Providing an open system capable of integrating to other business applications and external partners
  • Allow for business growth and global functionality to support manufacturing in China
  • Simplifying and converting hundreds of reports and configuration rules

The Challenge

Henny Penny’s products and complete start-up, service, training and technical support, are all available through their exclusive worldwide distributor network. Delivering a strategic plan to move to the latest release of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne while supporting future growth of that network was a crucial part of the journey and included:

  • Providing a roadmap to and beyond an upgrade, including improvements to Advance Pricing, Inventory Management and Transportation Management after completion of the initial upgrade project
  • Positioning the team for future benefits with an upcoming costing project
  • Decreasing server space and moving to an open platform
  • Decreasing IT maintenance by eliminating multiple platforms and databases

Our Solution

Henny Penny’s successful implementation resulted in the delivery of a platform to facilitate future business growth and was recognized by Oracle as the “Customer Success Story of the Year.” Henny Penny is now benefiting from:

  • Reduced IT cost by using open integration architecture
  • Improved end-user efficiency, taking advantage of a web-based interface with E1 pages to simplify navigation
  • Realized efficiencies in Finance with automated budgeting, positive pay features and multicurrency options
  • Automation of a manual recruiting process by implementing ERecruit
  • Increased mobility through the use of JD Edwards on the iPad
  • Enhanced system recovery from a nightly backup to the ability restore to any point in time
We have consolidated our system creating less cost and IT maintenance, provided the end-users with an intuitive interface and taken advantage of new functionality to streamline our business processes. We now have a platform for growth which has allowed us to plan for incremental projects to better manage costs and revenue in our business. I recommend Terillium to any JD Edwards customer considering an upgrade.
