2. Best Practices for Assessing Current State and Building a Strategic Technology Roadmap

Bryan Rose, VP of Digital Transformation at Terillium, Inc.

Dan Barford, VP of JD Edwards Practice at Terillium, Inc.

Location: Plaza Court 8 [Session ID: P-049879]

In today’s fast-paced business environment, organizations must regularly assess their technology landscape to ensure it aligns with their strategic goals and future needs. This presentation will discuss the essential process organizations should follow when evaluating their current technology state and applying best practices to build a robust strategic technology roadmap.

Even if the only major event on the horizon is an upgrade or a tools release update, it’s never too soon to put together a strategic plan. A well-constructed roadmap helps organizations navigate the complexities of technology evolution and ensures that any changes are aligned with broader business objectives. This session will help put things into perspective, offering insights on how to approach planning proactively to avoid pitfalls and seize opportunities.

We will explore the key steps involved in conducting a thorough assessment, including identifying strengths, uncovering gaps, and pinpointing opportunities for improvement. The discussion will also cover how to prioritize initiatives, align technology with business objectives, and create a phased implementation plan that minimizes risks and maximizes value.

Attendees will gain insights into the best practices for building a strategic technology roadmap that not only addresses immediate concerns but also positions the organization for sustained success. This session will provide actionable strategies for transforming technology systems into powerful enablers of long-term growth and innovation.

3. Transportation Management "Lite" - Streamlining Sales Order Processing

Implementing full functionality of the Transportation module is a big undertaking, requiring significant configuration effort, and that scares people off. This session aims to demonstrate how minimal configuration allows the basic functionality to be leveraged to streamline the sales order pick/pack/ship process, and provide the benefits that go with truly managing shipments instead of sales orders. The session will provide an overview of the basic configuration required to be able to leverage key features of the Transportation Management module and show how straightforward it really is. We’ll hit on Shipment Consolidation, Shipping/Delivery Documents, Capturing Appointment Times, Billable/Payable charge automation with Freight Update, and how we can keep stock and non-stock line status in synch.
