Oracle's Commitment to JD Edwards: Extended Support Through 2035
Oracle is committed to JD Edwards with extended support through 2035 and a detailed 10-year plan, reassuring customers about their long-term investment. This extended development timeline ensures that JD Edwards will continue to evolve to meet customer needs.
JD Edwards Product Strategy
JD Edwards boasts a storied history beginning in 1972 and continues to experience substantial growth and innovation. The platform has had over 30 major updates, and its latest version, 9.2, has almost 1,000 enhancements. Last year, Oracle added over 100 new features. This relentless progression highlights Oracle’s commitment to maintaining and advancing top-tier solutions for its users.
Oracle’s vision for the JD Edwards Product Roadmap emphasizes three key areas:
- Applications: JD Edwards has come a long way since 2000, enhancing automation and functionality to help organizations fully leverage modern software solutions.
- Digital Platform: JDE Orchestrator Studio is central to JD Edwards’ strategy, introducing no-code and low-code development options. This innovation replaces rigid customizations with flexible solutions, making it easier for businesses to analyze data and boost operational efficiency.
- System Administration: Regular updates keep JD Edwards up-to-date and make system management easier. Oracle focuses on security and impact analysis to ensure the system remains robust and user-friendly.
The JD Edwards product strategy also highlights a sustainability framework for capturing and reporting environmental data. Their sustainability framework is a reliable source for tracking fuel usage, energy consumption, and other vital metrics. It simplifies data gathering and integrates with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) to track emissions against goals. By implementing this framework, companies can find cost-saving opportunities, reduce emissions, enhance regulatory compliance, and build stakeholder trust.
Success Metrics and Customer Engagement
The success metrics shared during the conference were nothing short of impressive. Since 2015, JD Edwards has delivered over 30 releases and more than 110 enhancements just last year.
- Currently, 425 customers are running JD Edwards SaaS applications.
- Over 330 are utilizing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Looking Ahead – Release 25 and Beyond
Release 25 is a Digital ERP upgrade that introduces innovations designed to automate, optimize, and transform business processes. This release underscores Oracle’s ongoing commitment to advancing customers’ digital transformation initiatives.
Innovation and AI Integration
It was no surprise that a key theme at the conference was the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into business processes. During the JD Edwards Product Session, Oracle demonstrated practical applications of AI, including a JDE chatbot designed to assist sales managers with order management. The JDE chatbot showed its potential to automate tasks, enhance efficiency, and streamline workflows, underscoring its critical role in improving professional effectiveness.
Oracle discussed its broader investments in AI, focusing on predictive and generative technologies. They presented innovations that address various business challenges and demonstrated how AI can enhance inventory management and forecasting.
Oracle also showcased the ease of authenticating to OCI services and transferring files, further illustrating these advancements. The OCI Document Understanding AI service accurately interpreted scanned receipts and extracted fundamental values for expense management. This flexibility and extensibility of OCI services demonstrate their potential to improve business processes significantly.
Recent innovations in enterprise automation and customization within JD Edwards enable organizations to enhance efficiency and tailor solutions to meet their business needs.
- Automation Process Models: Enterprise automation process models demonstrate seamless integration with JD Edwards, providing comprehensive business process views and key performance indicators (KPIs) for effective performance monitoring. The order fill rate KPI is crucial for managing inventory levels and preventing backorders.
- Building and Customizing Process Models: Organizations need to build custom templates tailored to their specific business needs, as pre-built models sometimes align with unique requirements. By creating a procure-to-pay model, they use data to generate process models directly, allowing them to personalize their analytics while keeping snapshots of their current system state for future reference.
- User-Defined Objects and Update Manager: User-defined objects and their integration through the Update Manager simplify patch applications and impact analysis by providing special instructions for seamless updates. The upcoming administrative features aim to enhance the client’s development and optimize package management.
Oracle JD Edwards provides innovative solutions that boost business efficiency and foster sustainability. Join the JD Edwards community to explore the wide-ranging opportunities as we work together toward a more efficient and sustainable future.
