Top 3 Strategic Priorities for JD Edwards Users in 2021

JDE Community Survey - What JD Edwards Users Find Most Important in 2021

Reading Time: 4 min

We recently asked the JDE community about their priorities and initiatives for 2021, and it’s looks a bit different than last year’s initiatives.

Goal #1: Process Automation

Over sixty nine percent of JDE users surveyed said process automation was their number one priority for their organization in 2021.

Automation is critical to navigating the new reality and driving digital transformation. As one of the primary ways, process automation promises efficiency, accuracy, timeliness, and lower cost.

By completely eliminating user tasks by predetermined system action, process automation is working at its best. “The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne digital platform, which includes the Orchestrator, notifications, Scheduler, and extensibility framework, enables a high level of process automation, allowing human users, devices, and the EnterpriseOne system to cooperate in digitally transformed operations.”

While your JDE system might not appear “broken” there’s always room for improvements or automations.

Goal #2: Orchestrator Capabilities

To continue the need for automation, over sixty five percent of JDE users surveyed said orchestrator capabilities are a major priority for the future.

JD Edwards Orchestrator technology has opened up new doors to automation within JDE. As one of the most significant enhancements to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Orchestrator Studio can transform how you use your entire JD Edwards system and provides a dynamic reflection of your real-time business operations without human intervention.

By providing an excellent framework, Orchestrator also integrates with external systems and Cloud services, allowing your EnterpriseOne system to send and receive data for integrated business processes. In this way, the Orchestrator can expose JD Edwards transactions as REST services to a broader range of integrated business processes without the need to use the Server Manager console user interface.

However, there are many aspects to Orchestrator including automation, integration, notifications, and capturing data from IoT or other sources, all of which lead to automation. Learn more about the latest Orchestrator features.

Goal #3: Improved Reporting

45% of JDE survey respondents are focusing on improving visibility and reporting. Living in the new normal, access to real-time data in an easy-to-consume format is an essential part of achieving operational excellence.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne reporting capabilities are designed to deliver personalized access to clear and concise views over operational activities. Improved reporting leads to more effective decision making and improved long-term planning.

To further enhance business processes, improved reporting will:

  • Minimize delays between business needs and operational actions.
  • Prioritize ways to increase your company’s cash flow
  • Enable BI capabilities
  • Enhance user and data interactivity without sacrificing real time capabilities

While those are the top three goals for JD Edwards users in 2021, many businesses are choosing to focus on other important areas of growth and innovation. Utilizing UX One and implementing cloud solutions were selected as #4 and #5 top features and functionality in 2021 among those who completed the survey. See the complete results below.

Are you planning on any additional initiatives or functionalities? Nearly half of the JDE users surveyed plan to maximize additional functionality/ modules in 2021.

#2 Upgrades

Implementing Cloud Applications

According to IDC, 2021 will be the year of Multi-Cloud as the global COVID-19 pandemic reaffirms critical need for business agility.

“As such, some enterprises are choosing to keep certain workloads on-premises – using an in-house datacenter – or on private clouds. This approach helps them achieve better performance, 24/7 availability, enhanced security, and greater compliance with regulations.”

In particular to the JD Edwards community, integrating cloud applications initiatives is in the top 3 initiatives for 2021.

A JD Edwards cloud strategy is designed specifically to support business growth, greater business agility, and lower costs and risks. This hybrid approach provides you and your business the best of both worlds:

  • The increased agility and reduced IT complexity of a cloud-based approach
  • The ability to protect your existing applications investment and customizations
